Namo Bharat Rapid Rail:: Ahead of its much-anticipated debut, the Indian Railways announced the renaming of its ‘Vande Metro’ service to ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail alongside several Vande Bharat trains during his visit to Gujarat today.
The inaugural journey of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will commence from Bhuj and reach Ahmedabad, covering a distance of 359 kilometres in just 5 hours and 45 minutes. This marks a significant milestone in India’s rail transportation, offering faster and more efficient travel options for commuters.
Passenger Service to Launch on September 17
Following the inaugural run, the regular passenger service will begin on September 17. With a ticket price of ₹455 for the entire journey, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail promises an affordable travel option for the public. The train will operate at a maximum speed of 110 kmph and will stop at key stations along the route, including Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Samakhiali, Halvad, Dhrangadhra, Viramgam, Chandlodiya, Sabarmati, and Kalupur (Ahmedabad station).
Redefining the Concept of Metro Travel
Indian Railways has redefined the traditional metro travel experience with the launch of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. Unlike conventional metro systems that operate between urban stations, this service will connect inter-city destinations, bridging key urban centres with surrounding areas. This broader travel range makes the service distinct from regular metro services.
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is designed to accommodate up to 2,058 standing passengers and includes cushioned sofas in air-conditioned coaches for seating. With automatic sliding doors and engines at both ends, the train bears a resemblance to suburban metro trains, despite some comparisons to the Vande Bharat Express.
The launch of this service is expected to revolutionize rail travel in India, providing faster, comfortable, and cost-effective transportation for long-distance commuters.
