National Doctors Day: Honouring all doctors for their contribution and selfless service

Today that is 1 July, is the death & birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was former CM of WB & the 6th Mayor of Kolkata. National Doctors Day is observed every year in his memory.

The day is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving the people by risking their lives. This Doctors day is very special this year as during the COVID-19 pandemic the contributions and sacrifices made by doctors and healthcare workers around the globe is uncountable and unplayable.

The first National Doctor’s Day was celebrated 30 years ago in 1991 on July 1 in honour of Dr BC Roy’s contribution to the field of medicine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted doctors for standing strong in the crisis period: “On Doctors Day, my greetings to all doctors. India’s strides in the world of medicine are commendable and have contributed to making our planet healthier.”

President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted: Let’s celebrate National Doctors Day as a tribute to dedication of doctors to treat the ill to the best of their ability. In Covid-19 times, their service has gone beyond the call of duty. We are deeply indebted to these selfless angels who have risked their lives to save ours.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted:
