The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Indian Navy conducted a successful joint operation in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Kochi on May 11, 2023, culminating in the largest drug seizure in Indian history. The crew seized a huge 2500 kg of heroin worth an estimated Rs 12,000 crore on the foreign market. The operation was carried out after the NCB and the Navy obtained information that a large shipment of drugs was being trafficked from Iraq to Australia via the Indian coastline. The united team reacted quickly and intercepted the vessel transporting the goods.
NCB conducted successful operation with Indian Navy
The successful operation demonstrates the efficiency of inter-agency cooperation in combating the drug trafficking threat. The NCB has been working relentlessly to prevent drug trafficking, and this seizure is an important step in that direction.
Individuals, communities, and society as a whole are all negatively impacted by the illegal drug trade. Drug trafficking drives organised crime and terrorism while wreaking havoc on public health and safety. The NCB’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse are vital in protecting the Indian people’s health and well-being.
The accomplishment of this collaborative operation is not only a victory for law enforcement authorities, but it also serves as a deterrence to drug traffickers. The participation of the NCB and the Indian Navy in this operation reflects the government’s determination to take a severe stance against drug trafficking and sends a clear message that such illegal actions would not be tolerated.
