NIA raids: Ahead of the G20 working group meeting in Srinagar, the NIA is conducting raids at in Kashmir. It has raided over 70 locations to hunt down terrorists and terror-related activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The third G20 tourism working group meeting will be held from May 22 to 24 in Srinagar.
According to reports, the NIA’s anti-terror task force was conducting raids in Pulwama district on May 20. The raids are part of the NIA’s probe into the activities of the OGWs (over-ground workers) and cadres, who operate in support of outfits such as The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, among others.
Pushing youth to terrorism
According to sources, these OGWs or intermediaries to terrorists engage youth in terror activities. They are involved in the supply of magnetic bombs and sticky bombs. The NIA has launched searches across Srinagar, Pulwama, Avantipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Poonchh and Kupwara, in connection with two terror-related cases.
Reports said NIA raids wore conducted at over 70 locations in the last 20 days to hunt down terrorists and terror activities.
Under its G20 presidency, India is holding a working group meeting of the international forum in Kashmir. The meeting will be held from May 22 to 24 at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
