NIA: The National Investigation Agency(NIA) has filed chargesheet against 13 Pakistani Nationals in a case of weapons and drug smuggling dating back to 2022. The smuggling of weapons and drugs was done with intention of financing terrorist activities in India. The contraband of drugs and weapons came from Pakistan and was being smuggled via Gujarat. The seized items included 40 kg of heroin, Pakistani currency, Pakistani identity cards, 120 live 9mm cartridges, six magazines, six foreign-made pistols and mobile phones. The arrest and filing of chargesheet
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Gujarat had received information about an upcoming attempt to smuggle weapons and drugs by Pakistani drug lord Hazi Salim. The contraband of drugs and weapons came through Pakistan via a fishing boat “Al-Soheli.” The tip-off said that the consignment will arrive in Indian Waters around Okha Shore of Gujarat around 27th or 28th of December 2022. A joint operation by ATS and Okha Coast Guard led to seizure of boat and subsequent arrests of miscreants. The case was then transferred to NIA by Ministry of Home Affairs. The NIA registered the case under NDPS Act, 1985, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967.
