National Investigation Agency: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted various raids across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday as part of a campaign against the Khalistani-gangster nexus. Sunder alias Jora, a gangster-turned-terrorist Arsh Dala’s assistant, was taken into custody by the NIA during the raid in Ferozepur, Punjab. In Chandigarh, Jora will be questioned.
Diplomatic Strain and Extensive Raids
The facts indicated that there were over 50 establishments being raided throughout the aforementioned states. The development comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions between India and Canada after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused New Delhi of being “absurd” and “motivated” for its alleged “potential” role in the murder of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18 in British Columbia.
NIA Reveals Hawala Links, Terrorism Financing, and Cross-Border Operations
According to NIA sources, overground operators in India were being paid through hawala routes for drugs and weapons by mafia and Khalistani forces operating in foreign nations. Inputs on the Khalistani-ISI and gangster nexus were reportedly given to the investigation agency, according to sources. According to data gathered from criminals and Khalistanis detained under the UAPA thus far, the network is involved in financing terrorism, supplying weapons, and carrying out anti-national operations from abroad.
NIA Raids Over 50 Locations Across Multiple States
A total of 30 places in Punjab, 13 locations in Rajasthan, 4 locations in Haryana, 2 locations in Uttarakhand, and separate locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh were the targets of the raids on Wednesday. In the midst of the diplomatic dispute, India recently declared that it will temporarily stop issuing visas to nationals of Canada and requested Ottawa to scale back its diplomatic representation there.
