NIA raids: Sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are conducting Raids at various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including in Srinagar, Kupwara, Poonch and Rajouri. The raids pertain to the criminal conspiracy hatched by the terror groups operating under various pseudo-names, at the behest of their Pakistani commanders and handlers.
The operation is being carried out in districts including Srinagar, Anantnag, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri and Kishtwar.
Five Army jawans killed
The NIA’s raids come days after five Army jawans died in a gunfight with terrorists in Rajouri district on May 5.
Earlier on April 20, five Army soldiers were killed in a terror attack in Poonch district. Defence officials said that terrorists fired at the Army vehicle while it was moving from Bhimber Gali to Sangiot in the Poonch district.
According to reports, Border Action Teams (BATs) including commandos from the Pakistan Army and terrorists infamous for beheading security personnel, have been sighted in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK).
Reports said, terrorist movement was reported from Lanjote, Nikail, Kotli and Khuiratta in POK around Rajouri and Poonch sectors.
Terrorists trained by Pak army
The terrorists involved in the BAT operations are trained like soldiers and commandos from the Pakistan Army in the group. They were being trained to attack the LoC.
The BATs are prepared by the Special Service Group (SSG). The teams attack from behind with meticulous planning.
On December 23 last year, the NIA had also conducted searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in the case, which was filed based on inputs that various proscribed terrorist outfits in the erstwhile state are spreading terrorist activities. The agency then searched places in Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Sopore and Jammu districts.
The case had been suo moto registered on June 21 last year by the NIA.
