The Supreme Court has given strict instructions to the Central Government on the outstanding arrears of One Rank One Pension. The Supreme Court has said that the government should pay the arrears of the beneficiaries before 30 April. during the hearing, Chief Justice Chandrachud expressed displeasure over the submission of the report in a sealed envelope and refused to accept it. He also asked a question to the Central Government that this report is about the implementation of the orders, what can be confidential in it?

The Supreme Court has directed the Center to pay arrears under One Rank One Pension to those who are pensioners or winners of gallantry awards by April 30. Apart from this, arrears should be released in equal installments to pensioners above 70 years of age by 30 June 2023 and to the rest of the pensioners by 30 August 2023, 30 November 2023 and 28 February 2023 or earlier.
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that we need to stop the practice of replying in sealed envelopes in the Supreme Court. It is basically contrary to the basic process of fair justice. On being given the report in a sealed envelope, he asked that it is about the implementation of the orders, what can be confidential in it?
One rank one pension means same rank and same period of service should get same pension. In this, the date of retirement does not matter. That is, if an officer served in the force for 15 years from 1985 to 2000 and another officer served from 1995 to 2010, then both will get equal pension. This will benefit 25 lakh ex-servicemen.
