Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir: Reaffirming India’s unwavering position on Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the entirety of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India. Jaiswal also reiterated India’s strong opposition to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), citing concerns over territorial integrity and sovereignty.
India Reiterates Stance on PoK, Opposes CPEC: MEA Spokesperson
Addressing a query about increased cooperation between Pakistan and China during the weekly media briefing, Jaiswal emphasized, “On PoK, we are very consistent in our position. We want to tell you, the whole of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the union territories, they are part of India, an integral part of India. They were an integral part of India. They are an integral part of India and they will remain an integral part of India.”
Jaiswal further stated, “Our position on CPEC also is well known to you. We are not in favour of it. We are against it. It goes against our territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
This statement comes in response to recent developments where Pakistan and China have agreed to advance their joint CPEC project and support finalizing the modalities for third-party participation. India’s opposition to CPEC stems from the project passing through PoK, which India considers its territory.
The reaffirmation of India’s stance underscores New Delhi’s continued diplomatic efforts to assert its sovereignty and territorial claims in the region amidst growing cooperation between its neighbors.
