Pakistani Reaction on S Jaishankar’s Visit to Islamabad

Since S Jaishankar’s arrival in Pakistan, various Pakistani YouTubers have expressed their excitement. During the 23rd SCO summit, his fierce remarks on terrorism, separatism, and extremism have gone viral. A Pakistani YouTube channel called “Real Entertainment TV,” run by Shoaib, captured the reactions of local people regarding S Jaishankar’s comments. These reactions have gained substantial attention online.

In one segment, the Pakistani YouTuber asked locals if they believed Pakistan supports terrorism, referencing figures like Hafiz Saeed and Dawood Ibrahim. The response from one Pakistani man was striking: “Dawood Ibrahim ko unke hawaale kar do, gift kar do, taaki India ke saath trade jabardast ho sake.” However, he further says, “Agar Kashmir ko hal karna hai toh Kashmir ke liye qurbani de, jaise Palestine ke logon ne diya, Gaza ke Musalmanon ne diya. Agar nahi, toh phir trade karein, sab kuch karein unke saath, aur apni jo garibi ka khatma karein.”

The Importance of S Jaishankar’s Comments

This Pakistani reaction to S. Jaishankar highlights a desire among some Pakistani citizens for improved relations with India and the resumption of trade. However, Jaishankar’s stance remains clear: “If activities across borders are characterized by terrorism, extremism, and separatism, they are hardly likely to encourage trade, energy flows, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges in parallel.”
