Three men—two seers and their driver—were attempting to travel to Surat, Gujarat, on April 16, 2020, to attend the funeral services for their deceased spiritual mentor. CBI is now in charge of the investigation

Prior to the incident, there had been rumours on WhatsApp for at least two weeks about child lifters prowling the area around Gadchinchle village. Despite the fact that there were police in the area, these rumours led to suspicious villagers attacking the trio’s vehicle. By the Maharashtra Crime Investigation Department, approximately 250 people were detained, charged with crimes in the Sadhu lynching case, and several minors were also held. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now in charge of the investigation.
