Parliament Attack: Yellow Smoke Chaos in Lok Sabha! All You Need to Know About the Intruders

Parliament Attack

Parliament Attack: A visitor’s pass that was given to one of the accused who was being held inside the House was accessed by India Today just hours after a significant security breach occurred at the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The pass was issued in the name of BJP MP Pratap Simha and bore the name of the detainee, Sagar Sharma. The other intruder was identified as Manoranjan D, an engineer by trade who lived in Mysuru.

Intrusion and Smoke Release

Members of Parliament (MPs) were startled when two people leaped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery and opened canisters that released yellow smoke. The incident quickly led to the House’s adjournment. In order to visit the Parliament, one must first submit a request in the name of the constituency member of parliament. Generally speaking, the MPs whose names are on the passes verify the identity cards that visitors submit and conduct a security check before allowing them entry.

After that, the visitors must go through a series of rigorous security checks conducted by the guards and electronic devices stationed at the Parliament’s entrance. Given that Sagar Sharma, one of the intruders, obtained the visitor’s pass under the BJP MP Pratap Simha’s name, the police were looking into how the two detainees entered the Parliament building using coloured smoke.

Unauthorized Access to Visitor’s Pass

The zero hour was in progress when the two intruders leaped from public gallery number four at approximately one in the afternoon. ‘Tanashahi nahi chalegi’ (dictatorship will not be tolerated) was another slogan they yelled. According to police, two people—including a woman—were arrested outside the Parliament for using color-smoke-releasing cans as a form of protest. On this day, India will commemorate 22 years since the 2001 Parliament attack, in which terrorists from Pakistan-based groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba attacked the Parliament complex and killed nine people.
