Rahul Gandhi: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, received relief on Monday when the Patna High Court ordered the order of the lower court in the ‘Modi surname’ defamation case to be suspended until May 15. A lower court in Patna had previously ordered the Congressman to appear on April 12 and present his case in relation to a petition Sushil Kumar Modi, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar, had filed against him in 2019 alleging Gandhi made offensive statements about the “Modi surname.”
All lower court procedures have been suspended until the next hearing
Rahul Gandhi had petitioned the Patna High Court on April 22 to have the summons issued by the lower court in the defamation case brought by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi against him quashed. “We had filed a quashing petition. There cannot be a trial in the same case in another court while it is already being heard in the Surat court…this is illegal. All lower court procedures have been suspended until the next hearing on May 15,” Rahul Gandhi’s attorney Advocate Virendra Rathore informed ANI.

Rahul Gandhi left his official Tughlaq Lane home on Saturday
Gandhi was previously found guilty by a Surat court for his comments, and as a result, he lost his right to serve as a Lok Sabha MP. According to protocol, he left his official Tughlaq Lane home on Saturday. After he won the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi, he was initially given the bungalow. In the meantime, Sushil Modi’s attorney, SD Sanjay, claimed that the court had instructed him to refrain from further debate. The Congressman claimed that he was paying the “price for speaking the truth” when he left his home and moved into mother Sonia Gandhi’s flat in Delhi.
