The Pragadi Maidan tunnel robbery that occurred in the nation’s capital over the weekend has been solved by the Delhi Police. CCTV footage of the theft shows four bike-riding, armed thieves halting a car against its will, snatching a black bag from it, and then speeding away. Two lakh rupees were in the bag. The case had been resolved, the Delhi Police reported on Tuesday.
According to the police, Patel Sajan Kumar, a delivery agent for a private company, and a friend were the victims of the robbery. The four thieves on two bikes blocked their cab’s path as the two were headed to Gurugram with a bag holding Rs 2 lakh in cash. They demanded money from them at gunpoint.
According to the police, a man named Usman plotted the robbery in order to pay off his debts. To avoid opposition, the tunnel was selected. The 1.5 kilometre tunnel links Noida, Sarai Kale Khan, and New Delhi.
According to the police, Usman, a delivery agent who lives in Burari, frequently worked in the Chandni Chowk area and was aware of the movement of cash there. He devised a plan to carry out a robbery in order to pay off his debts, enlisting the help of his cousin Irfan.
The scheme also included Sumit alias Akash, Kuldeep alias Lungad, and Anuj Mishra alias Sanki. Usman was joined by Sumit, a vegetable vendor, as they conducted a reconnaissance of Chandini Chowk. One of the bikes was being driven by Anuj, a mechanic at the Delhi Jal Board storage, when the heist occurred.
On June 22 and 23, the suspects allegedly failed to locate a target in the Chandni Chowk area, according to the police. They located a suspect on June 24 who they thought was carrying a bag of cash, and they followed him to the Pragati Maidan tunnel.
Four people were seen stopping a car within the tunnel in video of the crime. Two males who were wearing helmets got off their motorcycles as the automobile came to a stop. They all pulled out pistols, one headed for the driver’s side and the other for the back door.
With the black bag carrying Rs 2 lakh in cash, they made their getaway on their motorcycles. The accused carried out their plot using motorcycles that were stolen.
The Delhi Police detained every member of the heist plot using CCTV footage and other hints. In addition, the police recovered a rifle, two bikes, and Rs. 5 lakh from the offenders.
