The US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a “warm and productive” phone conversation in which they praised the Air India Boeing deal as a landmark agreement that will help create new employment opportunities in both countries. This deal has brought bilateral relations between India and the US to a new high.

The historic agreement, according to President Biden, would generate up to 1 million new jobs across 44 US states. According to a statement from the US White House, Boeing and Air India have concluded an agreement under which the airline will purchase 220 aircraft from Boeing for USD 34 billion, including 190 B737 Max, 20 B787, and 10 B777X.
Furthermore, there will be the opportunity to purchase an additional 70 planes, bringing the total deal value to USD 45.9 billion. The agreement between Air India and Boeing has been hailed by the two leaders as “shining example of mutually beneficial cooperation that will help create new employment opportunities in both countries”
During the telephonic conversation, the two leaders also agreed to bolster the vibrant people to people ties between the two countries which have been mutually beneficial. They further stated that they will remain in contact during India’s ongoing G20 Presidency to ensure its success.

The two leaders also welcomed the first meeting of this initiative on Critical Emerging Technologies (iCET) which was held recently in Washington and expressed keen desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in below sectors:
- Space
- Semi-Conductors
- Supply Chains
- Defense Coproduction and Codevelopment
