PM Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are scheduled to meet in Delhi on Monday for talks, with the potential signing of significant agreements, particularly in the energy and agriculture sectors.
The Saudi Crown Prince’s visit marks his second official trip to India since February 2019. Initially arriving in Delhi on September 8 for the G20 Summit, he decided to extend his stay to engage in bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
To strengthen bilateral relations
Kicking off with a grand ceremonial reception at the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan, the day is set to feature a sequence of significant engagements geared towards strengthening bilateral relations across various dimensions, encompassing economics, trade, culture, and defense.
At the forthcoming bilateral meeting between PM Modi and the Saudi Crown Prince at Hyderabad House, renowned for hosting diplomatic dialogues and fostering international bonds, the agenda will encompass a wide array of subjects, spanning politics, security, defense, trade, economics, and culture.
The two leaders are charged with the responsibility of not only evaluating the current collaboration within the framework of the Strategic Partnership Council but also charting the course for prospective areas of partnership, with the aid of two crucial ministerial committees.
Rising trade between nations
In an effort to emphasise the all-encompassing scope of this partnership, a formal signing ceremony for the minutes of the inaugural meeting of the India-Saudi Strategic Partnership Council is planned to take place at Hyderabad House.
The visit by the Saudi Crown Prince follows a significant achievement in economic collaboration, as bilateral trade surged to a record-breaking $52.75 billion in the fiscal year 2022-23. India and Saudi Arabia maintain pivotal roles as trading allies, with Riyadh ranking as New Delhi‘s fourth-largest trading partner and vice versa.
