PM Modi Cabinet: The first Union Cabinet meeting of the Narendra Modi-led NDA administration marked the beginning of its third term. Important decisions were taken, such as assigning responsibilities to the Council of Ministers. The resolution to assist an extra 3 crore rural and urban people build homes in order to fulfil the growing number of eligible families’ housing requirements is a vital highlight of the meeting.

Boost to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which was launched in 2015–16, has played a significant role in housing eligible rural and urban residents. The scheme has made it possible for 4.21 crore low-income families in India to have their homes completed during the last ten years. Through convergence with other state and central initiatives, the PMAY-built homes have basic utilities including working household tap connections, LPG and power connections and toilets.

Among the notable Ministers of State are Jitin Prasada, Shripad Yesso Naik, Pankaj Chaudhary, Athawale Ramdas Bandu, and Ram Nath Thakur. This list also includes various representatives from different states and communities, ensuring a wide range of perspectives and expertise in the administration.

Diverse Representation and Experienced Leadership

The Modi 3.0 Cabinet boasts 27 ministers from Other Backward Classes, 10 from Scheduled Castes, 5 from Scheduled Tribes, and 5 from minority communities. A record 18 senior ministers will lead various ministries, emphasizing the depth of experience within the cabinet. Additionally, the cabinet includes 43 ministers with three or more terms in Parliament, 39 with prior central government experience, multiple former chief ministers, and 34 ministers with state legislature experience.

New Faces and Ally Representation

33 ministers are being appointed for the first time, including members of the TDP, JD(U), RLD, LJP, and JD(S), which are partners of the BJP. With the addition of actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, the BJP now has its first Keralan MP, which is a historic moment. Five cabinet ministerial positions are allotted to NDA partners, compared to none in the previous administration, which further illustrates the BJP’s reliance on allies for a majority in the Lok Sabha.
