With the ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’ themed celebration, the event underscores the vision of the government in transforming India into a developed nation at its centenary of independence.
PM Modi Reflects on Historical Legacy
PM Modi at Red Fort says, “We are proud that we carry the blood of the 40 crore people who had uprooted the colonial rule from India. Today, we are 140 crore people, if we resolve and move together in one direction, then we can become ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 by overcoming all obstacles in the way.”
“By overcoming all the hurdles, we can make India prosperous. We can achieve the target of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. If 40 crore people can break the shackles of slavery to gain freedom, then with the same spirit 140 crore people can make India prosperous,” he added.
A Tribute to India’s Brave Freedom Fighters
The address of PM Modi was his 11th consecutive speech from the Red Fort, setting a record for his leadership. It was also the first Independence Day speech of his third term, placing him among the longest-serving leaders of India to have hoisted the tricolor from this historic site.
The day was observed as a token tribute to the freedom of India from British colonial rule and is dedicated to the hitherto485 unconquerable bravery and sacrifices of freedom fighters who made the sovereignty of the nation a possibility. Elaborate security arrangements were made throughout Delhi and key states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana to ensure a secure and smooth celebration. This measure was very instrumental in maintaining decorum during the high-profile event.
