Prime Minister Narendra Modi chair a high-level meeting on Friday to review the augmentation and availability of medical oxygen across the country.
During the meeting he was informed that more than 1,500 PSA Oxygen plants are being set up across the country to mitigate the shortage of oxygen supply reported by many hospitals across several states. These PSA Oxygen plants are capable of supporting more than 4 lakh oxygenated beds, officials told PM Modi.
After being apprised about the status of PSA Oxygen plants, PM Modi instructed officials to ensure that these plants are made functional at the earliest.
According to the statement, Modi also instructed officials to guarantee proper training of hospital staff on the operation and maintenance of oxygen plants, as well as the deployment of advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to track the performance and functionality of the plants.
“Officials informed the PM of a pilot project utilising IoT to monitor the performance of the oxygen plants,” the statement continued.
Covid-19 in India
Meanwhile, Aaccording to the Health Ministry data, the country reported 43,393 new cases and 911 deaths in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19, taking the caseload and death toll to 30,752,950 and 405,939, respectively.
