PM Modi Urges Officials to Ensure Safe Evacuation as Cyclone Alert Issued for Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch
The PM instructed officials to take all reasonable steps to ensure that residents of susceptible areas are safely evacuated after being briefed on efforts made to lessen the impact of the cyclone. PM Modi tasked staff with maintaining all crucial services while being ready to immediately restore them in the event of harm. Additionally, he urged them to guarantee animal safety. A cyclone alert has been issued by the meteorology office for Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch beaches. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the sea conditions along the beaches of Saurashtra and Kutch will likely be “rough to very rough” through Wednesday and “very rough to high” on Thursday. “The cyclone is likely to have an impact on Kutch, Jamnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Porbandar, and Devbhumi Dwarka districts during June 13–15 with heavy rainfall and very high wind speed that may go as high as 150 kmph,” it said.

Kutch District Prepares Residents for Cyclone Impact
The Kutch district has begun relocating residents from low-lying regions to makeshift shelters. Officials stated, “We have constructed around shelters to evacuate the residents at the coastal communities. Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister, went to the State Emergency Operation Centre on Sunday to assess how ready the coastal districts were for any emergency. Fishing is not recommended in the seas along the coasts of Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Lakshadweep, according to the IMD. The state governments are urged to keep a careful eye on things, check in on their local conditions frequently, and take the necessary precautions. Accordingly, district authorities are advised,” it stated. Ports are mandated by international maritime law to hoist signals warning vessels of imminent bad weather conditions. This protects ships and their crews and ensures the security of maritime operations.
