Eid 2023: On the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh well and wished everyone around the world peace, harmony, good health, and happiness, according to a statement from the premier’s office here. The multilateral partnership-based relationship between India and Bangladesh changed into a “role model of neighbourly relations” in the globe, according to Modi, who also lauded Hasina.

The Indian prime minister expressed excitement about working with Hasina to advance bilateral ties to “new heights.” To Prime Minister Hasina, PM Modi said, ‘I convey my Eid greetings to you and the people of Bangladesh. On behalf of the people of India.’ In expressing his greetings on behalf of India, PM Modi asked for world peace, harmony, good health, and happiness for all people. General elections in Bangladesh are scheduled for late December 2023 or early January 2024, months before the polls in India.

Values of unity and brotherhood
Since the moon, which signifies the beginning of the Shawwal month, was spotted this evening, Bangladeshi authorities announced that the nation would observe the holiday on Saturday in accordance with the Arabic lunar calendar. In a statement, Prime Minister Modi stated that Muslims worldwide observed fasts and offered prayers during the holy month of Ramadan, adding that “on this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the people of the world are realizing the values of unity and brotherhood along with the Muslim Ummah.”
