PM Modi: Addressing the ET World Leaders Forum on August 31st, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to strike a fine balance between a ringing vision for India’s future and the enormous progress made under his stewardship for over a decade now. PM Modi underlined that his government is duty-bound to ensure investors a stable policy environment, a focus on reforms, and high growth on a sustainable basis. He also enumerated the achievements his administration has made in the last decade which irrevocably shaped India’s economic and social contours.
Achievements Over a Decade
PM Modi began with the achievements of his government during the last 10 years. He reminisced that when the Lok Sabha election results were announced, he had said his government would work thrice as hard in its third term. “I can assure that our resolve is as strong as ever, and just as each of the billion-plus citizens of the country, the government is hope-filled and confident,” he added. Less than 100 days of the new term has passed, but the government has taken long strides in modernizing India’s physical infrastructure.
In fact, in the last three months alone, it has taken a slew of decisive actions to bring improvement in the lives of poor, farmers, youths, and women. To be precise, the nod to three crore new houses for the underprivileged, announcement of the Integrated Pension Scheme, and allotment of a whopping Rs 1 lakh crore fund for agricultural infrastructure-end. Further, the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme for empowering women by making them financially independent was further strengthened, thereby helping 11 lakh women.
Economic Growth and Future Vision PM Modi proudly shared that over the last ten years, India’s economy grew by nearly 90%, an achievement seen against the global economy, which has expanded by just 35% during the same period. This growth, he said, replicates the model of sustainable development that India has embarked upon. The mantra of “Reform, Perform, and Transform” has been at the heart of this achievement, and PM Modi has asserted that this mantra will also propel India’s future growth.
Leadership Aspirations to the Global Level
The PM looked ahead and said that in every field, India aspires towards global leadership. He thus called upon the global community to partner with India on this journey, exuding complete confidence that his government would continue to further facilitate reforms and asked investors to innovate and deliver high-quality outcomes. “Today’s India respects wealth creators,” declared PM Modi underlining a commitment toward empowering citizens, creating wealth, and contributing toward global prosperity. He underlined innovation, inclusiveness, and international cooperation as the touchstone of India’s future development.
