Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the 13.71 km long Metro line from Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura (Whitefield (Kadugodi)-to-Krishnarajapuram Metro Line) and boarded the train of the new Metro line along with the staff. Built at a cost of Rs 4,249 crore, there are 12 metro stations on this line. This new line of Bangalore Metro will be helpful for the residents of Bangalore working in IT parks, export promotion industrial areas, malls, hospitals and various Fortune 500 companies.
PM Modi bought a ticket and then also took a ride on the newly-inaugurated metro and during his journey interacted with people from different walks of life including metro employees and workers. The inauguration is taking place a few weeks before the assembly elections to be held in May. Out of the 15.81 km stretch under construction, the opening of the 13.71 km section from KR Puram to Whitefield will reduce travel time on this route by 40 per cent and reduce road traffic congestion.
On reaching Whitefield (Kadugodi) metro station, the Prime Minister first bought a ticket at the ticket counter like a normal passenger and then took the ride. He visited an exhibition put up on the occasion. PM Modi then unveiled a plaque to mark the inauguration and proceeded towards the platform to board the train. He was accompanied by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
The 13.71 km long stretch from Puram to Whitefield was inaugurated on Saturday. He told that with the commencement of this line, the travel time on this route will be reduced by about 40 percent and there will be less jam on the roads.

He told that five trains with six coaches bought from BEML will run on this route and other trains have been kept as backup.
