PM Modi Inaugurates ‘Sudarshan Setu,’ India’s Longest Cable-Stayed Bridge in Dwarka

PM Modi: Today, in Dwarka, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated India’s longest cable-stayed bridge. The ₹ 979 crore construction of the ‘Sudarshan Setu’ has linked the islands of Beyt Dwarka and Okha. In October 2017, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the 2.3 km bridge, stating that it would connect the old and modern Dwarka.

A Closer Look at Sudarshan Setu’s Impressive Specifications

“The four-lane 27.20 metre wide bridge has 2.50 metre wide footpaths on each side,” an official release said. The distinctive architecture of Sudarshan Setu has a pathway flanked on both sides by pictures of Lord Krishna and lines from the Bhagavad Gita.

Formerly called “Signature Bridge,” the bridge is now called “Sudarshan Setu,” or Sudarshan Bridge. Beyt Dwarka is an island next to Okha port, approximately 30 km from Dwarka town, home of the well-known Dwarkadhish temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Additionally, PM Modi will offer prayers at the Dwarkadhish temple. The first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gujarat will be opened in Rajkot this afternoon by the prime minister. The prime minister will virtually open four other recently constructed AIIMS in Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal in addition to the Rajkot AIIMS.

The Centre has constructed five super-speciality hospitals, including one in Rajkot, at an expense of ₹ 6,300 crore. This evening, PM Modi is anticipated to participate in a massive roadshow in the city.
