Today at Hubballi, the world’s longest railway platform was inaugurated by the prime minister. During the PM’s visit to Karnataka, the platform was inaugurated in front of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. It should be noted that Indian Railways’ Hubbali South Western Railway Zone now holds the record for the longest platform and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
An investment of Rs 20.1 crore was made to build this platform at the Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji station in Karnataka as part of the railways’ initiative to upgrade stations.
The Siddharoodha Swami railway Station’s 1.5 km-long platform’s construction was started in February 2021 and is now finished. The station connects Hosapete (Gadag side), Vasco-Da-Gama/Belagavi, and Bengaluru (Davanagere side) and is an important junction in Karnataka (Londa side).

The Hubballi-Dharwad region’s transportation needs will be met by the longest railway platform in the world, which will also serve to increase the yard’s operational capacity. Also, it will make it possible for trains to run in both directions. The second-longest platform is in Uttar Pradesh at Gorakhpur, spanning 1,366.33 metres, and the third-longest platform is at Kollam Junction in Kerala, reaching 1,180.5 metres.
Meanwhile, Modi opened the 118-kilometer Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway. The region’s social and economic development is expected to benefit from this new project. The new e-way, which cost Rs. 8,480 crore to construct, will cut the journey between the cities’ travel times in half, to roughly 75 minutes. Along the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru stretch, NH 275 will also be expanded to six lanes as part of the project.
