PM Modi: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a week-long initiative called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, aimed at India’s aspirational blocks. The ‘Sankalp Saptah’ program is being executed in 500 aspirational blocks spanning 329 districts nationwide. Its objective is to enhance governance at the block level, ultimately improving the citizens’ quality of life.
What is Sankalp Saptah?
As per an official press release, the week-long initiative is in close alignment with the nationwide Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), inaugurated by PM Modi in January of this year. Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Will be joining the #SankalpSaptah programme at 10 AM today. This effort will go a long way in boosting the quality of life for people living in Aspirational Block.”
During ‘Sankalp Saptaah’, from October 3 to October 9, each day focuses on a particular development theme, with all aspirational blocks actively engaging in related activities. The themes for the first six days encompass ‘Sampoorna Swasthya’, ‘Suposhit Pariwaar’, ‘Swachhta’, ‘Krishi’, ‘Shiksha’, and ‘Samridhi Diwas’, as per the statement. On October 9, the final day of this week-long initiative, there will be a celebratory event called ‘Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh’ to commemorate the collective efforts and accomplishments of the entire week.

To ensure the effective execution of the ABP and formulate strong block development plans, ‘chintan shivirs’ were organized at the village and block levels throughout the country. ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ serves as the culmination of these insightful discussions and will be observed in all 500 aspirational blocks.
