On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to the North East. PM Modi will be present at the oath taking ceremonies for the new governments of three states in the region while on his tour. During his overnight stay in the state, he would also travel to the Assam government’s cabinet meeting.
In Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, where the election results were announced on March 2, coalitions supported by the BJP retained power. The new governments will take office in two days, beginning on Tuesday.
The Guwahati police on Monday issued a traffic advisory owing to the PM’s arrival.
“To ensure safety of public, especially vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens and differently-abled persons on the road and to give free passage to the emergency vehicles like Ambulances, Fire tenders etc., the following restrictions on the movement of vehicles shall be imposed,” read the release by Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Traffic Guwahati.
Restrictions on the movement of vehicles:
On March 7, 2023, from 7 AM to 9 PM, and on March 8, 2023, from 5 AM to 12.30 PM, commercial goods-carrying vehicle traffic will be restricted on NH-27 and N11-17 throughout Guwahati City.
On March 8, 2023, from 5 AM to 11 AM, commercial goods-carrying vehicles (small, medium, and heavy) will not be allowed to travel on D.G., AT, M.G., K.L., Tayabullah, GNB, B., and G.S. roads.
