PM Modi sends clear warning to China, saying India’s ‘sovereignty is supreme’

In the light of recent clash between India-China at the Galwam Valley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech on the occasion of Independence Day said that the Indian army will give a befitting reply to everyone who dares to raise an eye on sovereignty of the country.

“Those who challenge India’s sovereignty, be it LoC or LAC, have been given a befitting reply in their own language. They have been responded to in the language they understand. India stands committed to defeat forces that aid and abet terrorism & expansionism,” he said.

While mentioning the backdrop of India’s response to Chinese attack in Ladakh, PM Modi said that the entire world witnessed the dedication displayed by the Indian soldiers.

“Respect for India’s sovereignty is supreme for us. What our brave soldiers can do for this resolution, what the country can do, the world has seen in Ladakh,” Modi said. “The entire country is moving forward with josh, inspired with a resolve and a belief in its capabilities,” the prime minister added.

Earlier, on Independence Day eve on Friday, President Ramnath Kovind has sent a veiled warning to China while paying tribute to the bravehearts who lost their lives to the violent clash at Galwan Valley.

“Their bravery has shown that if anyone tries to create disturbance, an appropriate answer will be given,” asserted President Kovind.

He added, “The entire nation pays tribute to the martyrs of Galwan Valley. Every Indian has a feeling of gratitude towards each of their family members.”

Without naming China, the President lashed out their idea of expansion at a time when the world needs to come together to combat coronavirus pandemic that has brought every country’s economy to knees.

“The world now realises what our sages had said long ago: the global community is but one family; “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam”. However, even while the world community needs to fight together against the greatest challenge before humanity, some in our neighbourhood tried to carry out their misadventure of expansion,” Mr. Kovind said.

On 15-16 June, the violent clash between India and China resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and casualties of 43 Chinese soldiers. Ever since then, the two countries are engaged in verbal spat. India’s top officials have multiple times tried to discontinue the rift, but China hasn’t taken any steps to dis-engage the rivalry.
