Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy over a telephonic call that lasted about 35 minutes. During the course of this call, the two leaders discussed the evolving situation in Ukraine reported news agency ANI citing Government of India sources. PM Modi also appreciated the ongoing dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
Prime Minister Modi also thanked Zelenskyy for the help provided by the Ukrainian Government in evacuation of Indian nationals from the war-torn nation. He further sought continued support from the Ukrainian government in ongoing efforts for evacuation of Indian nationals from Sumy.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy also commented on the second round of telephonic talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Zelenkyy tweeted, “Informed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Ukraine countering Russian aggression. India appreciates the assistance to its citizens during the war and Ukraine’s commitment to direct peaceful dialogue at the highest level. Grateful for the support to the Ukrainian people.”
Additionally, PM Modi will also be speaking to Russian President Vladimir Putin today. Since the beginning of the conflict on February 24 when Russia launched a special military operation on Ukraine, the Prime Minister has spoken to both the leaders twice.
On February 26, PM Modi spoke to Ukrainian President Zelensky in which the latter briefed the Prime Minister in detail about the ongoing conflict situation. After India abstained during a vote in the United Nations Security council, Zelensky spoke to PM Modi and sought India’s political support at the UNSC, ANI report said.
