PM Modi to discuss security challenges with top military brass on April 1

On April 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a speech at a conference where senior military leaders will discuss enhancing cooperation and coordination among themselves in light of ongoing efforts to transform services into leaner, meaner fighting units. Tomorrow is the official start of the three-day Combined Commanders Conference.

From March 30 to April 1, the conference is slated to take place in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. According to the organisers, the event will take place at Kushabhau Thakre Hall.

The implementation of ongoing schemes and projects for boosting integration and jointness in the defence forces, as well as the specifics of the current security issues, are both expected to be covered by the prime minister.

On the first day of the event, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan will deliver a speech, and on the second day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will do the same. The Prime Minister’s address on the final day of the event will be the primary attraction.

The defence force will brief PM Modi on the matters surrounding the formation of theatre commanders during the summit. The Indian military will also demonstrate its innovations and “Made in India” initiatives in the field of defence.

Asmi, a machine pistol developed by Lt Col Prasad Bansod of the Indian Army, is among the innovations that are expected to be presented to the prime minister. At the convention, a variety of additional assault weapons will be on display.

It is also anticipated that the Navy and the Air Force would develop innovations that will improve their combat readiness and lower their reliance on imports.

The three vice chiefs, chiefs of staff committee, seven army command chiefs, six air command chiefs, and three Indian navy command chiefs will all be present in addition to the combined defence services and services chiefs.
