PM Modi: Ahead of Madhya Pradesh elections, PM Modi is scheduled to visit the state on Monday to address a large gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party workers in the run-up to the upcoming elections. To facilitate Modi’s arrival, the Bhopal Police have implemented traffic restrictions on various routes, resulting in the closure of several schools in the area.
BJP’s “Karyakarta Mahakumbh” today
The ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’ is being conducted on the occasion of Jana Sangh co-founder Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary, symbolizing the official conclusion of the BJP’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatras.’ These yatras extensively traversed the state, covering its diverse regions, as indicated by party officials. Reports have suggested that the BJP aspires to draw a crowd of 10 lakh people to the event, aiming to showcase the party’s formidable presence and support.
The choice to declare a holiday in numerous schools is a precautionary measure in anticipation of significant traffic congestion in various areas, resulting from the imposed road regulations, according to local reports. As a result, parents have been informed via messages over the weekend that schools will be closed on Monday due to the visit of the Prime Minister.
PM Modi in Bhopal
According to the itinerary, Prime Minister Modi is set to arrive at Bhopal airport at approximately 10:55 am, where he will then proceed to the Jamboree Maidan helipad via helicopter. Following his arrival at the venue, he is scheduled to address the public gathering at around 11:30 am.
The BJP initiated a series of five yatras at the beginning of this month as part of their outreach efforts to connect with the public. Party President JP Nadda inaugurated the first Yatra in Chitrakoot, Satna, on September 3rd. These yatras have collectively traversed 223 out of the total 230 assembly segments in the state. Party leaders have indicated that the grand workers’ gathering is intended to serve as the official conclusion of these yatras.
BJP’s performance in Madhya Pradesh Elections 2018
During the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP narrowly missed returning to power as the Congress secured 114 out of 230 seats, while the saffron party managed to secure 109 seats.
Under the leadership of Kamal Nath, the Congress formed a coalition government with the support of Independent lawmakers, as well as those from the BSP and SP. However, this coalition government collapsed after 15 months when a group of Congress MLAs, led by Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is now a Union minister, defected to the BJP. This mass defection paved the way for Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s return as the Chief Minister.
