PM Modi: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the Surat district of Gujarat to officially open the recently constructed Surat Diamond Bourse. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced in a statement that Surat Diamond Bourse will be the largest and most contemporary hub for the global diamond and jewellery industry following its opening.

The statement also stated that it would become a major international hub for the trading of jewellery and polished and unpolished diamonds. It will include a cutting-edge ‘Customs Clearance House’ for import and export, a jewellery mall for the retail jewellery industry, and a building housing safe vaults and foreign banking.

PM Modi Shared some information and Visuals of the ceremony on Twitter and wrote, “In Surat tomorrow, the Surat Diamond Bourse will be inaugurated. This will be a major boost to the diamonds industry. The ‘Customs Clearance House’, Jewellery Mall and facility of International Banking and Safe Vaults will be significant parts of the Bourse. “
A Closer Look at the Rs 3500 Crore Investment
He also released Diamond Bourse’s pictures. Constructed at an approximate expense of Rs 3,500 crore, the 67 lakh square feet of floor area of the building can accommodate almost 4,500 offices for diamond trading. The structure, which is a part of Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City, was named the world’s largest office building by Guinness World Records in August of this year.
Diamond Bourse’s Impressive 35.54-Acre Plot
Constructed on a 35.54-acre plot, the megastructure features 15 stories in addition to nine ground towers with office space ranging from 300 square feet to one lakh square feet. There is a central spine connecting the nine rectangular towers. The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has awarded the building a platinum rating. Notably, Director of Kiran Gems and billionaire diamond trader Vallabhbhai Lakhani moved his Rs 17,000-crore company to Diamond Bourse and is building a mini-township to house his staff. Following the event’s conclusion, PM Modi will go to Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, to take part in a number of events.
