Narendra Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark Diwali festivities by visiting Ayodhya today on the eve of the festival. He will attend the ‘Deepotsav’ celebrations in the evening after offering prayers to Lord Ram at the under-construction Ram Janmabhoomi temple.
This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Ayodhya after laying the foundation stone for the temple in 2020. Also, this is the first time that the Prime Minister will be physically participating in the Deepotsav celebrations.
17 lakh diyas
During the Deepotsav Mahotsav, around 17 lakh earthen lamps will be lit today as part of Diwali celebrations that will also include fireworks, a laser show, and the staging of Ramlilas.
According to reports, the Prime Minister will perform darshan and pooja around 5 pm today at the temporary Ram Temple inside the construction site . At around 6:30 pm, he will attend an aarti by the Saryu river, which will be followed by Deepotsav celebrations. Before Ayodhya, the PM was in Kedarnath and Badrinath.
A portion of the temple, which is under construction, is likely to be open for pilgrims by December next year.
Laser show
PM Modi will also witness the laser light show planned for the evening. He will participate in the celebrations along with the chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The CM welcomed the prime minister by tweeting a message.
Taking to Twitter, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote in Hindi, “Shree Ayodhya ji is ready for a grand and divine Deepotsav. All of you are welcome. Jai Shree Ram.” He also tweeted the new logo of the event.
Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Navdeep Rinwa said over 15 lakh earthen lamps will be lit by more than 22,000 volunteers at Ram ki Paidi near the Saryu bank, according to PTI reports. The rest will be placed at important intersections and spots. “There will also be a laser show, 3D projection mapping show, fireworks, and Ramlila staging by cultural troops from other countries and states. At the Ram Katha park, Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshman and Lord Hanuman will be shown descending from a ‘pushpak vimana’,” said Rinwa.
