On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Goa and Maharashtra. The main purpose of this visit is to take part in various programmes aimed at augmenting infrastructure and boosting connectivity.
“Tomorrow, 11th December is a special day for Maharashtra as projects worth Rs. 75,000 crore will either be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. These include Vande Bharat Express, Nagpur Metro, AIIMS and the spectacular Mahamarg between Nagpur and Shirdi.” PM Narendra Modi tweeted.
PM Modi would also be addressing the 9th World Ayurveda Congress.
“In Goa, I will be addressing the 9th World Ayurveda Congress. I will also be inaugurating the Mopa International Airport, Goa. This airport will promote the local economy and be a major boost for tourism,” the PM tweeted.
The development follows the Center’s ongoing efforts to offer top-notch transportation and infrastructure facility throughout the nation.
PM Modi to inaugurate Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway
The first phase of Samruddhi Mahamarg, which connects Nagpur and Shirdi across 520 km, will be officially inaugurated by the prime minister.
An official press release states that the Samruddhi Mahamarg or Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway project is a significant step toward achieving the Prime Minister’s goal of improved infrastructure and connectivity throughout the nation.
The 701 km expressway, one of India’s longest expressways, is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 55,000 crore. It runs through the 10 districts of Maharashtra as well as the renowned urban areas of Amravati, Aurangabad, and Nashik. The road would also aid in improving connection between the 14 neighbouring districts.

The “Samruddhi Mahamarg” will connect to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, and tourist attractions like the Ajanta Ellora Caves, Shirdi, Verul, Lonar, etc. in accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision of integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects under “PM Gati Shakti.” The construction of Samruddhi Mahamarg will fundamentally change how Maharashtra’s economy grows.
According to an official press release, the Prime Minister will also dedicate the “Nagpur Metro Phase I” to the nation. At the Khapri Metro Station, PM Modi will mark the departure of two metro trains: the Orange Line from Khapri to Automotive Square and the Aqua Line from Prajapati Nagar to Lokmanya Nagar. More than Rs 8650 crore was spent on developing Nagpur Metro Phase I.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Nagpur Metro Phase-II, which would cost more than Rs 6700 crore to build. During his visit to the state, he will also dedicate AIIMS, Nagpur to the country. The “Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana” is the programme that created the hospital.
At Nagpur Railway station, the Prime Minister will flag off Vande Bharat Express that will run between Nagpur and Bilaspur.
PM Modi to inaugurate Mopa International Airport, Goa
The Prime Minister will officially launch the Mopa International Airport in Goa as another stride in this regard. In November 2016, the prime minister laid the airport’s foundation.
The airport was built with sustainable infrastructure in mind and cost about Rs 2,870 crores to construct. It has a solar power plant, green buildings, LED lights on the runway, rainwater collection, a cutting-edge sewage treatment plant with recycling capabilities, among other amenities.
It has integrated some of the top technology, including 5G compatible IT infrastructure, StabilRoad, Robomatic Hollow precast walls, and 3-D Monolithic Precast buildings.
