PM Modi’s Birthday: On his birthday Today, September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), YashoBhoomi in Delhi‘s Dwarka.
YashoBhoomi as a Global Hub for Conferences
The Prime Minister, in a tweet, said, “I will inaugurate Phase-1 of YashoBhoomi, a state-of-the-art and modern convention and expo centre in Dwarka, Delhi. I am confident this will be a very sought after destination for conferences and meetings. It will draw delegates from all around the world.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi added, “YashoBhoomi is also going to be synonymous with sustainability. It has a modern wastewater treatment system, there are provisions for rainwater harvesting and the complex has received Platinum certification from Indian Green Building Council. A new Metro station, ‘YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’ will also be inaugurated thus linking this iconic venue with the Delhi Metro Airport Express.”
A Mammoth Venue for Global MICE Events
With a project area of more than 8.9 lakh square metres and a total built-up area of more than 1.8 lakh square metres, YashoBhoomi will be one of the largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities in the world. The main auditorium, a ballroom and 13 meeting rooms are among the 15 convention rooms of the more than 73,000 square metre convention complex, which can accommodate 11,000 attendees in all. The conference center’s main auditorium, which serves as the plenary hall, has seating for about 6,000 people. It has a cutting-edge automatic seating technology that enables different seating arrangements.
YashoBhoomi’s Grand Ballroom
The ballroom, which stands out for its distinctive petal roof, has seats for up to 2,500 guests inside and 500 more outside. The 13 conference rooms, which are dispersed across eight floors, can host a variety of meetings of various sizes. In addition to these features, YashoBhoomi has one of the biggest exhibition halls in the world, measuring more than 1.07 lakh square metres. Exhibitions, trade shows, and corporate events will take place in these rooms, which are connected to a magnificent foyer area. Numerous support spaces, including media rooms, VVIP lounges, cloakrooms, a visitor information centre, and ticketing counters, are located in the foyer.
YashoBhoomi’s Pioneering Wastewater Treatment
Featuring a cutting-edge wastewater treatment system with 100% wastewater reuse, rainwater harvesting, and rooftop solar panels, YashoBhoomi also allegedly exhibits a commitment to sustainability. The campus has been awarded the Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC) Green Cities Platinum certification. The conference facility is made up of elements and things that are influenced by Indian culture, such as terrazzo floors with brass inlay that depict rangoli patterns. It also has illuminated pattern walls and suspended sound-absorbing metal cylinders.
New Metro Station and Airport Express Link
As to information, with the opening of the new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25, YashoBhoomi would also be connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line. In addition, PM Modi will officially open the Dwarka Sector 21 to Dwarka Sector 25 extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line today. According to the authorities, Delhi Metro would reduce travel time by increasing operational speed of metro trains on the Airport Express Line from 90 to 120 km/hr. The overall trip time from New Delhi to YashoBhoomi will be around 21 minutes.
