Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Promotes Clean Cooking Fuel Access for Underprivileged Women
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), which was introduced in May 2016, is a significant government effort for social welfare. Its main objective is to provide economically disadvantaged women, especially those who live below the poverty line, with access to clean cooking fuel. The primary goal of the Ujjwala Yojana is to replace conventional cooking methods that rely on solid fuels like wood, coal and biomass with the safer and more environmentally friendly choice of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
