Lalu Prasad Yadav: On Tuesday, a political uproar was caused by RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav‘s statement that Muslims should receive “poora” (complete) reservation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the statement by saying that “the leader of the INDIA bloc, who is out on bail in the fodder scam, has disclosed the Congress‘s and its allies’ plan to transfer the nation’s largest minority community’s quota of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.”
PM Modi’s Interpretation of Lalu Yadav’s Statement
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar that, “Congress is silent but today one of its allies confirmed the intentions of the INDI alliance. Their leader, who is in jail in connection with the fodder scam and has been punished by the court…He has just come out on bail…He said that Muslims should get reservation and not just reservation, he says that Muslims should get ‘complete’ reservation. What does this mean?”
According to PM Modi, the Congress and its allies in the INDIA bloc want to give “complete reservation to Muslims” and take away the constitutionally granted reservation benefits for SC, ST, and OBC members. In the name of what he called “pseudo-secularism,” PM Modi vowed that no one would be able to “erase India’s identity” while he was still alive. “Congress and INDI alliance people should listen — as s long as Modi is alive, any attempt to erase the identity of India in the name of pseudo-secularism will not succeed,” he added.
Lalu Prasad Yadav Advocates for Full Muslim Reservation
Lalu Prasad Yadav told ANI that Muslims must get ‘poora reservation’. “Reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, poora,” he said. The former chief minister of Bihar made the statement one day after Amit Shah, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, claimed that the Congress had given Muslims reservation by lowering the quota for SCs, STs, and OBCs in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Lalu Yadav added some remarks regarding the third round of voting. He mentioned that there are tidings that our coalition is garnering a substantial number of votes in the third stage. Lalu Yadav responded to the BJP’s 400-seat slogan as well. According to Lalu Yadav, the BJP is referring to more than 400 seats in an attempt to put psychological pressure on voters, but these individuals won’t even reach 200.
Yogi Adityanath Accuses INDI Alliance of Threatening OBC, SC, and ST Reservations
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responds to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s remark about reservations by saying, ” This is what the Prime Minister is saying that the parties associated with INDI alliance, be it Congress, RJD, Samajwadi Party, they will try to disturb the reservation of OBCs, SCs and STs and their manifesto mentions that. When the Congress-led UPA government was in power, both RJD and Samajwadi Party were its constituents.”
CM Yogi added that, “At that time, these people had formed Ranganath Mishra Committee and Sachar Committee. Ranganath Mishra Committee recommended that 6% reservation should be given to Muslims, which was strongly opposed by the Bharatiya Janata Party at that time… BR Ambedkar was against reservation on the basis of religion…People should answer them through their votes and reject them,” as quoted by ANI.
