Amid the number of reports of coal shortage in India, the Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday paid a visit to Korba district of Chhattisgarh and asked officials to scale up coal production there.
Pralhad Joshi twitted and informed about his visit to coal mines.
“Visited Dipka coal mine in @secl_cil today. It is one of India’s largest coal mines in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh, with a capacity of 35 million tonnes per annum,” wrote Joshi on Twitter.
“Happy to share that cumulative coal supplies to thermal power plants from all sources including @CoalIndiaHQ recorded more than 2 million tonnes yesterday. We are increasing coal dispatch to power plants further to ensure sufficient coal stocks at power plants,” Mr. Joshi said in other tweet.
He also interacted with senior officials at the coal mine and urged them to boost up the production of coal.
Pralhad Joshi is also expected to visit Ranchi-based coal mines on Thursday.
