New Delhi: Prashant Kishor, poll strategist, has resigned as Principal Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh citing his decision to take a temporary break from active role in public life.
Prashant Kishore also says he isyet to decide on his next move, in a letter to Amarinder Singh.
He wrote, “as you are aware, in view of my decision to take a temporary break from active role in public life, I have not been able to take over the responsibilities as your Priciple Advisor. Since I am not yet to decide on my future cource of action, I write to request you to kindly relieve me from this responsibility.”
The move is bound to upset Singh ahead of the Punjab election next year, which he approaches amid a fragile truce with his rival Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Amrinder Singh, announced the stratergist’s appointment in March, when Mr Kishor was managing a harrowing Bengal Campaign for Mamta Banerjee versus the BJP.
Mr Singh, tweeted “Happy to share that Prashant Kishor has joined me as my pricipal advisor. Look forward to working together for the betterment of people of Punjab!”.
Sources close to Mr Kishor say he never really took on the job.
Referring to the opposition’s move to join forcws ahead of the next general election, the sources said that, “There is no point getting involved in the state elections when the entire focus is on 2024”
