The holy festival of Makar Sankranti 2022 is being celebrated on 14 January and there is an old tradition of taking a dip of faith in the Ganges on this day in Prayagraj. Here today people from every corner of the country reach to take a dip in the Ganges. However, the bad news is that 38 new corona patients have been found in the Magh Mela area. After which the administration is on alert. Till Wednesday, 29 policemen were found infected with corona in this area, whereas today 7 more policemen have been found infected.
According to Nodal Officer Rishi Sahai, there is no ban in Prayagraj regarding this event amid increasing cases of corona infection, but many restrictions have been imposed. It has been informed that thermal scanning of devotees coming to Magh Mela will be done from time to time. Masks will be distributed. Apart from this, the Covid test of the employees, sailors, co-drivers doing duty in the fair will be mandatory. Apart from all this, those who want to stay there for a whole month, they will also have to bring the RTPCR report of Corona with them. It has also been told that this time the number of Ghats has been increased so that large crowd of devotees does not gather.
According to media reports, lakhs of devotees are expected to gather in the Magh Mela from today and it is a big challenge for the administration to follow the Corona rules. From taking a dip on the Sangam beach to changing clothes, it will be impossible to maintain social distance amid the influx of people. In such a situation, if concrete steps are not taken to follow the Covid rules in time, then the situation may worsen.

In the Magh fair held every year in Prayagraj, a city of tents is being set up for a month-long chanting, austerity, meditation and here too it is a challenge to follow the corona rules. In view of the increasing risk of corona infection, it was made mandatory for the people coming to Magh Mela to keep the RTPCR report 48 hours in advance. So that the infection can be prevented from spreading in the fair.
In the Magh Mela, in the midst of strictness like keeping registers in every camp, bringing certificates of taking both doses of vaccine, while it is being said to make the devotees aware of following the protocol, crowds of believers have started arriving. According to Sheshmani Pandey, Mail Officer of Prayagraj Mela Authority, health department teams will be stationed at every check point.
