President Draupadi Murmu arrived in Belgrade on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to Serbia in the second leg of her two-nation tour. She was received by her Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic upon arrival in Belgrade from Suriname, where she was on a state visit from 4 to 6 June.
“As a special gesture, the President of Serbia @avucic received President Murmu at the airport. She was given a guard of honor on her arrival,” Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted.
The President will be in Serbia till June 9. This is the first visit of an Indian President to Serbia.
The focus of this visit of the President of India is to enhance business ties. In this connection, a 20-member delegation is reaching Serbia from India. It will be attended by members of the three major Indian associations – ASSOCHAM, FICCI and CII. The focus of the visit would be to encourage the business communities of both the countries to explore the possibilities of business opportunities.
