President’s Address: Growth Takes Center Stage, Economy to Women Empowerment, Country on the Right Track

During the joint session of the 18th Parliament, President Draupadi Murmu spoke about India's economic goals under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, emphasizing the country's aspiration to rank among the top three world economies.

President’s Address: On Thursday, June 27, President Droupadi Murmu gave a speech to the 18th Parliament’s joint sitting. She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s administration during her speech, stating that their efforts are aimed at placing India’s economy in the top three globally. Earlier in the day, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and an official bearing the government-adopted “Sengol” symbolised Murmu’s arrival to the Parliament Building.

Support to Farmers

President Draupadi Murmu said, “The government has provided an amount of more than Rs 3 lakh 20 thousand crore to the farmers of the country under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Since the beginning of the new term of my government, an amount of more than Rs 20 thousand crore has been transferred to the farmers. The government has also made a record increase in MSP for Kharif crops. “

She added, “Today’s India is changing its agricultural system keeping in mind its current needs. Nowadays the demand for organic products is increasing rapidly in the world. Indian farmers have the full capacity to meet this demand, so the government is strengthening the supply chain of natural farming and related products.”

During her speech to the joint session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today, President Draupadi Murmu made a unique comment regarding the state of the national economy. She claimed that despite the worldwide epidemic, India’s economy had overcome all obstacles to reach a new high. According to this chronology, India alone now makes up 15% of the global GDP. The Indian government plans to rank our economy as the third largest in the world shortly.

Government’s Commitment to Address Paper Leak Incidents

Paper leak was also mentioned in the President’s address. President Draupadi Murmu said, “The government is committed to impartial investigation of paper leak incidents and to ensure strict punishment to the culprits. Paper leak incidents have happened in many states in the past as well. There is a need to rise above party politics and take concrete measures across the country on this issue.”

President Draupadi Murmu said, “This was the biggest election in the world, about 64 crore voters have performed their duty with enthusiasm and zeal. This time too women have participated in voting in large numbers. A very pleasant picture of this election has also emerged from Jammu and Kashmir. Many decades old voting records have been broken in the Kashmir valley.”

Commendation of India’s IT Industry

President Draupadi Murmu also commended the administration for India’s IT and health industries during her remarks. According to her, the current administration is working to improve the public sector. India is becoming a major force in the health and information technology industries thanks to the government’s specific initiatives.
