Priyanka Gandhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under heavy fire from Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who referred to him as a “shahenshah” (emperor) who lives in castles and is incapable of comprehending the struggles faced by the average person.
Priyanka Gandhi’s Response to PM Modi’s ‘Shehzaada’ Remark
Priyanka Gandhi used the term “shahenshah” in response to the Prime Minister’s frequent use of the term “shehzaada” (prince), referring to her brother, Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP. Speaking at Banaskantha, Gujarat’s Nyay Sankalp Sabha, she said, “He (PM Modi) calls my brother a ‘shehzaada’. But I want to tell him that this ‘shehzaada’ has walked a distance of 4,000 km. From Kanniyakumari to Kashmir, he walked to listen to the people’s problems. He asked everyone, from farmers to labourers, to tell him of their difficulties and ‘what can we do to resolve them.”
PM Modi’s ‘Shahenshah’ Image vs Reality of People’s Struggles
“And on the other hand, is your ‘shahenshah’ (emperor) Narendra Modi. He lives in castles. Have you seen him on TV? His face is clean, his white kurta is always spotless without a single stain. His hair is perfect. How will he understand your labour, about your farms? How will he understand how expensive petrol and diesel is or how expensive farming is?,” she queried.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “GST has been imposed on every item, everything has become expensive. All this Modi ji will not understand, he is locked in his castle. He is surrounded by power, everyone is scared of him. No one says anything to him. And if anyone raises a voice, efforts are on to silence it.”
PM Modi’s Recent Remarks
Only a few hours had passed since the Prime Minister’s most recent jab at Rahul Gandhi during a poll rally in Palamu, Jharkhand. Shaken by the surgical strikes, PM Modi claimed that Pakistani leaders were hoping and praying for the’shehzaada’ to take over as prime minister.
“During the Congress government, there used to be bomb blasts, terrorists used to fire bullets and the government used to send them love letters. They had ‘Aman ki Aas’. Pakistan used to send more terrorists than love letters. But one vote of yours gave me so much power that I said ‘enough is enough’ as soon as I came. This is New India, ‘ghar mein ghus ke maarta hai’,” he said.
