Pro-Aurangzeb slogans raised at Asaduddin Owaisi’s rally

Police registered an FIR against unidentified persons for raising slogans glorifying Mughal emperor Aurangzeb during a rally addressed by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district. An official gave this information on Monday. The officer said that the police took cognizance of the video and audio clips circulating on social media and registered the case on the basis of the complaint of the policemen present at the rally.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Owaisi addressed a rally in Malkapur city on Saturday evening. The official quoted the FIR as saying that during his speech, some unidentified people raised slogans glorifying Aurangzeb. He said that audio and video clips being circulated on social media could create communal tension in the area.

He said that keeping in view the past incidents of communal tension, the Buldhana police took serious note of the slogans and registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief claimed on Sunday that the reports of pro-Aurangzeb slogans are false. Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that it will soon be revealed who is raising such slogans and at whose behest.
