Pulwama Encounter: Terrorist Hideout Engulfed in Flames Amid Intense Gunfight

A terrorist hideaway in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, catches fire during a confrontation between militants and security personnel, setting off a dramatic exchange.

Pulwama Encounter: During a battle with security forces on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, two key commanders of The Resistance Front, a branch of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, became trapped in a house they used as a shelter. Following information that security personnel had received regarding a terror hideaway in the Nehama region of Pulwama, the gunfight broke out. The militants opened fire on the police and security personnel during a cordon and search operation, starting the shootout.

Rayees Ahmad and Reyaz Ahmad Dar

Both Rayees Ahmad and Reyaz Ahmad Dar, the terrorists, are from the south Kashmiri area of Pulwama. Visuals displayed smoke rising into the sky with the terrorists’ hiding place on fire. According to a police official, the gunfight was still ongoing and neither side had yet reported any deaths. When terrorists opened fire on a search group of the military, triggering reaction, the search operation turned into an encounter. According to the official, there have been no recorded casualties on either side of the continuing gunfight as of yet.

Nihama Area of Pulwama

“Encounter has started at Nihama area of Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police posted on X. In Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on May 7, two militants were slain in a gunfight with security personnel. Among the militants slain in the battle was Basit Dar, an active member of the Resistance Front (TRF), a terrorist organization supported by Lashkar.
