An image of a court notification that senior Supreme Court attorney and well-known human rights activist Indira Jaising published on Sunday has caused an uproar.
The notice, dated October 20, 2022, advises women’s rights activists to forgo hair styling. “It is regularly seen that women attorneys are styling their hair in open Court, which is disrupting the running of the Court,” reads the disputed notice, which is undersigned by the Registrar of Pune District Court. Women’s rights activists are hereby advised to refrain from such behavior.

Jaising posted a picture of this warning along with the caption, “Wow now look ! Who is distracted by women advocates and why !”. The number of likes on this tweet is over 3,000. The court’s order is being criticized by online users as being sexist and discriminatory against women.
Author Mini Nair asked: “Wonder when they will ask us to cease existing???”, and another Twitteratti wondered whether should they (women) all go bald.
Celeb photographer Atul Kasbekar said: “Lola Men getting distracted to this extent by a woman’s mane is fascinating.”
Khalida Parveen’s comment was: “Seriously, it’s a joke. Usually, men fix their hair. Even they carry a small comb in their pockets.”
