Alphonso mangoes on EMI: EMI or Equally Monthly Instalment is generally used by common people to buy expensive stuff right off the shelves without burning a hole in their pocket. They buy house, car, TV, fridge, washing machine and other high-end appliances on EMI. In fact, many retailers also avail EMI option in variety of goods including clothes, shoes and accessories. However, in a rare incident, a fruit vendor is selling Alhphonso mango on EMI. Quite surprising, right?
Pune vendor sells Alphonso mangoes on EMI
A fruit vendor in Maharashtra’s Pune district is selling Alphonso mangoes on EMI. Gaurav Sanas, the fruit seller at Gurukripa Traders and Fruit Products in Pune, is credited for initiating this unique scheme. He told ANI, “After Covid, it was seen that people were losing interest in Alphonso due to its high price. So we started this scheme of giving mangoes on EMI, in order to bring back the customers.”
Gaurav said that the bill after purchasing mangoes can be converted into EMI through POS machine. Sanas also said that the EMI option will be available only after making a purchase of at least Rs.5,000. He has also tied up with Paytm to sell mangoes on EMI. For this the customer needs to have a credit card and then the purchase price is converted into instalments of 3, 6 or 12 months.

First to sell mangoes on EMI
He went on to claim that his family’s outlet is the first in entire county to sell mangoes EMI. The scheme has been implemented in view of the high prices of the mangoes in the beginning of the season. Now, everyone can afford the fruit, he said.
“We thought if refrigerators, ACs and other appliances can be bought on EMI, why not mangoes? Everyone then can afford mangoes as well,” he said.
