Independence Day 2023: As India marks its 77th Independence Day today, the entire nation is engulfed in celebrations. Simultaneously, various states across the country have orchestrated special events to commemorate this occasion. In the state-level Independence Day ceremony held in Patiala, Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan, with immense pride, raised the national flag and extended warm greetings to the state. ring the event, he reviewed the parade alongside Chief Secretary Anurag Verma and DGP Gaurav Yadav. While celebrating the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted that a significant number of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom were Punjabi.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann celebrates Independence Day 2023
During the march past, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was acknowledged with salutes from different contingents participating in the parade. Contingents including Punjab Police, PAP (Punjab Armed Police), RTC PAP Women Wing, various District Police, Himachal Pradesh Platoon Contingents, NCC (National Cadet Corps), Punjab NCC Platoon, and Guide Contingent, paid their respects to the Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion of Independence Day, Bhagwant Mann emphasized that while freedom holds profound significance for the entire nation, its magnitude carries distinct weight for those born in the state of Punjab. He highlighted Punjab’s significant role in the struggle for independence and underscored that the state continues to contribute ceaselessly to preserve that hard-fought freedom. Mann acknowledged the integral roles played by Punjab’s farmers and youth in upholding the values of freedom on a daily basis.
CM Mann extended awards to 13 individuals who have exhibited outstanding and commendable contributions across various domains. Among these remarkable individuals, Saanvi Sood, the youngest person to conquer Mount Elbrus, was honoured with a medal and a citation. The ceremony also paid tribute to Patiala’s weightlifter and Commonwealth medalist Harjinder Kaur, as well as PCS SDM officers Sanjeev Kumar, Sukhdev Singh, and Fateh Singh Patwari.
Additionally, the list of honorees included ten-year-old Ekmjot Kaur, Major Singh from Tarn Taran, Salim Mohammad from Jalandhar, Sukhpal Singh, a science teacher, and Col. Jagdeep Sandhu. Santosh Kumar, the Commandant of NDRF Bathinda, was also among those recognized for their exceptional contributions.
CM Bhagwant Mann Addresses to public
In his address to the public, the Chief Minister expressed the Punjab government’s dedicated focus on pivotal sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and employment. He disclosed plans to establish 659 Aam Aadmi clinics to enhance the healthcare sector. Additionally, he announced the reopening of registrations for the Kheda Watan Punjab program. Emphasising the importance of law enforcement, he shared that the recruitment of 2200 police personnel annually has been scheduled for the upcoming four years.
CM Mann highlighted that around 90 percent of families in Punjab have a zero electricity bill, yet the Electricity Board is not permitted to suffer losses. Drawing attention to past mismanagement, he likened it to robbery during previous administrations, where people were exploited for four and a half years, followed by deceitful practices in the remaining six months. In contrast, the AAP government prioritizes the public’s welfare over personal gains and avoids continuing traditions like the Shagun scheme. He reaffirmed that Punjab owes its progress to the sacrifices of the martyrs. He also spoke about the numerous schemes launched in the state within past few months for the welfare of public.
CM Bhagwant Mann assures to take Punjab Ahead
CM Mann conveyed his commitment to elevating Punjab to the top position in the business sector. He highlighted that over the past year, Punjab has taken the lead in North India by registering a significant number of small factories—approximately two lakh seventy-nine thousand units. The state is also witnessing the establishment of major corporations like Tata Steel, Verbios, and Jindal Steel, indicating a positive trajectory for economic growth.
CM Mann urged the public to actively participate in the upcoming Panchayati elections by casting their votes. He emphasized the importance of unity during these elections, advising against internal conflicts and party-based battles. Mann encouraged the selection of village sarpanches through unanimous decisions, rather than party affiliations. As a reward for enhancing unity and development, the state government will provide an advance of five lakh rupees to villages that successfully appoint a Sarpanch through a unanimous decision.
