Raghav Chadha: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha has slammed the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party for the misuse of power. He also accused BJP of trying to turn this country into a one-party country. He further claimed that the BJP aims to have just one political party and leader, while also impersonating every other poltician.
Raghav Chadha speaks on abuse of central agencies
Chadha further remarked on the actions taken by central agencies against opposition leaders and parties, saying “They (BJP) want India to turn into autocracy.” While speaking at the press conference, Raghav said “The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not present the lawyer to ensure that Manish Does not get bail.”
Chadha went on to allege that the court intentionally postponed the hearing to a date eleven days later as the CBI failed to present its lawyers. Moreover, he accused the BJP of exploiting central agencies to wipe out the opposition in the nation. He continued further by saying that, “One Nation, One Party, One Leader.”
Raghav also alleged that central agencies are involved in the abuse of powers. He said, “This is a classic textbook example of abuse of the process of law.” In defense of his party, Chadha stated that the Aam Aadmi Party is not intimidated by these agencies or jails, as it was founded through past struggles. In a recent money laundering case related to the government’s excise policy, AAP leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was sent to ED custody till March 17.
Manish Sisodia arrested
Chadha alleged that the CBI deliberately did not present its lawyers, leading to the court setting the hearing date 11 days later in the future. Additionally, he accused the BJP of misusing central agencies to eliminate opposition in the country. Special judge MK Nagpal was absent during the reading of the order and the lawyers were informed by court staff.
Sisodia was arrested by the ED on Thursday while he was in Tihar jail, a day before his bail hearing in the corruption case being investigated by the CBI. The case is related to the Delhi Excise Policy for 2021-22, which has since been scrapped. The CBI bail hearing has been rescheduled for March 21. The ED sought custody of Sisodia for 10 days, claiming that he had a direct role in the alleged scam and needed to be interrogated to identify the modus operandi and confront other individuals who have been summoned.
