Rahul Gandhi: Ayodhya Chief Priest Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on Ram Janmabhoomi Event

Gandhi reportedly referred to the religious event as a "drama" and "naach-gana" (song and dance), which has drawn criticism from the temple’s priest.

Rahul Gandhi: Ayodhya’s Chief Priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Acharya Satyendra Das, has voiced his discontent with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks about the ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony. Gandhi reportedly referred to the religious event as a “drama” and “naach-gana” (song and dance), which has drawn criticism from the temple’s priest.

Devotees’ Sentiments Hurt, Says Acharya Das

Acharya Satyendra Das emphasized that, for the devotees, the ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony was a deeply spiritual event, not a form of entertainment. “In their (Congress’) eyes, it is a drama, but in the eyes of devotees, it was the ‘Pran Pratistha’ of their Lord,” Das said, condemning the comments as inappropriate when referring to a religious occasion.

The priest further added, “It is not right to give such statements for God,” expressing concern over the casual nature of Gandhi’s remarks, which he believes undermines the faith of millions of devotees.

Calls for Respect Toward Religious Sentiments

Acharya Satyendra Das urged political leaders to show greater respect for religious sentiments, especially regarding significant events like the Ram Janmabhoomi ‘Pran Pratistha’. He highlighted that such occasions hold deep meaning for devotees and should not be trivialized in political discourse. “These ceremonies are sacred to the people, and comments like these hurt the faith of those who see it as a divine moment,” the chief priest remarked, calling for sensitivity and respect in public statements related to religious matters.
